Description
Summary:Uniquely positioned at the intersection of medical and bioethics, philosophy of medicine, and medical humanities, the journal provides a forum for exploring and addressing how new developments in biomedicine foster philosophical, ethical and social issues, questions and possible solutions. The ethos of the journal acknowledges the importance of both obtaining new facts, tools and capabilities in medicine, and of engaging new ways of thinking about and expressing the meanings and effects of these emerging developments. Philosophy, Ethics, and Humanities in Medicine encompasses the philosophical and ethical aspects of clinical research and practice, and also welcomes papers focusing upon medicine and humanities, including the history of medicine, and medicine and the arts. As the official publication of the Pellegrino Center for Clinical Bioethics at Georgetown University Medical Center, we recognize the increasingly global scope of social and ethical implications of new developments biomedicine, and hence encourage contribution of international perspectives, insights and discourses.
