De Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie (Engels: ''World Health Organization'', WHO) is de gespecialiseerde organisatie van de Verenigde Naties die een sturende en coördinerende rol heeft op het gebied van gezondheid en welzijn. De WHO wil wereldwijde aspecten van de gezondheidszorg in kaart brengen, activiteiten op het gebied van de gezondheidszorg coördineren en de gezondheid van de wereldbevolking bevorderen. Tot de activiteiten behoort de classificatie van aandoeningen (ICD-10) en geneesmiddelen (ATC-codering).De WHO werd op 7 april 1948 opgericht door de Verenigde Naties en is sindsdien gevestigd in Genève. Jaarlijks wordt deze dag als Wereldgezondheidsdag met een thema in het nieuws gebracht.
