In this study, the Ngong Hills Wind Power Station in Kajiado County was used as an example to assess how monitoring and evaluation (M&E) practices affect project performance in the Kenyan energy sector. The goal of the research was to determine how much the following factors influenced the performance of energy sector projects in Kenya: monitoring and evaluation practices, M&E structures, technical expertise on M&E practices, and measures that could enhance project performance through M&E practices. It attempted to look into knowledge that presently exists in order to link M&E and project success. 193 workers from the target population in this study were the project organization (Kenya Electricity Generation Company (KenGen). A descriptive research study design was employed in the study. Inferential and descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data, which was gathered using questionnaires. With the aid of a computer and the statistical package for social scientists (SPSS) software program, numerical data was coded, entered, and analyzed. An analysis of regression was performed to demonstrate the interaction between the variables that are both autonomous and reliant, specifically investigating the effects of M&E methods on project performance in Kenya's energy industry. The research findings implied that M&E practices, M&E structures and technical expertise in M&E affects project performance in the Kenya energy sector. The variables were thought to be useful, but respondents' viewpoints varied. Specific areas for improvement may be found through in-depth surveys or interviews. The study further recommends areas of further research to shed more light on M&E issues when overseeing projects. In order to determine whether there is a correlation between monitoring and evaluation and project performance and success, the study proposes carrying out research on the adoption, implementation, challenges, and alignment of project management practices and project strategies in other businesses and countries.
