This study aimed to assess the effects of generational gap conflicts between millennials and Generation X employees on community development project performance in Machakos County, Kenya. The research explored the perceptions of 210 respondents. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative approach Through a stratified random sampling technique, participants are selected proportionally. 81.6% of participants acknowledged the existence of generational conflicts between millennials and Generation X employees in community development projects. These conflicts often stemmed from differences in work approaches, communication styles, and a lack of awareness about each generation's strengths. While mutual respect among generations was acknowledged by 69.7% of respondents, the study reveals that generational differences can hinder effective teamwork, with 62.6% of participants agreeing that these differences impact collaborative efforts. Furthermore, 82.9% of respondents believe that generational conflicts negatively affect the overall performance of community development projects. The study highlights the importance of resolving generational conflicts, with 87.3% of participants expressing the belief that projects perform better when such conflicts are addressed. Strategies for resolution, as endorsed by respondents, include training programs on generational differences, creating a culture of open communication, and implementing mentorship programs. It is evident that these conflicts negatively impact project performance, primarily through hindering teamwork and effective communication.
