Leo Strauss

Leo Strauss, född 20 september 1899 i Kirchhain, Hessen-Nassau, död 18 oktober 1973 i Annapolis, Maryland, var en tysk-amerikansk politisk filosof.

Få av 1900-talets filosofer har blivit så kontroversiella som den amerikanske politiske teoretikern Leo Strauss. Uppfattningarna om hans gärning går ofta så vitt isär att det ibland blir svårt att tro att de handlar om samme man. Utgår man från hans ämnesval och egna texter framstår han som en originell, om än något otidsenlig och minst sagt excentrisk filosofihistoriker med Platon, Machiavelli, Hobbes och Maimonides som specialområden.
