}} Houbing Herbert Song is the Co-Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics (TII) and the Director of the Security and Optimization for Networked Globe Laboratory (SONG Lab) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in Baltimore, USA. He received a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia in 2012.

Song was named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2023 ''for contributions to big data analytics and integration of AI with Internet of Things''. In 2022 he was named an Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Distinguished Member ''for Outstanding Scientific Contributions to Computing''.
