Το Διεθνές Νομισματικό Ταμείο (ΔΝΤ) (αγγλικά: ''International Monetary Fund - IMF'', προφέρεται ''Άι Εμ Εφ'', γαλλικά: ''Fonds Monetaire International - FMI''), είναι ένας διεθνής οργανισμός ο οποίος επιβλέπει το παγκόσμιο χρηματοπιστωτικό σύστημα παρακολουθώντας τις συναλλαγματικές ισοτιμίες και τα ισοζύγια πληρωμών και προσφέροντας οικονομική και τεχνική βοήθεια όταν του ζητηθεί. Το ΔΝΤ ιδρύθηκε στις 27 Δεκεμβρίου του 1945 όπως κυρώθηκε στο Φεκ 315 και τον Αναγκαστικό Νόμο 766 στην Ουάσιγκτον, την πρωτεύουσα των ΗΠΑ κατόπιν συνομολόγησης 29 Χωρών που είχαν συμβάλει στο 80% του κεφαλαίου. Η ίδρυση του Οργανισμού αυτού είχε προπαρασκευαστεί κατά τη Διεθνή Νομισματική και Χρηματοδοτική Συνδιάσκεψη που συνήλθε στο Μπρέτον Γουντς, του Νιου Χάμσαϊρ των ΗΠΑ, ενάμισι χρόνο πριν, από 1ης Ιουλίου μέχρι 22 Ιουλίου του 1944. Έδρα του Οργανισμού ορίσθηκε η Ουάσιγκτον, ως πρωτεύουσα της χώρας με το μεγαλύτερο ποσοστό συμμετοχής. Παρέχεται από τη Wikipedia-
