Ingrid Bengis

Ingrid Bengis at the rope in the basement of the Strand Bookstore (1979) Ingrid Bengis was born in 1944 in New York City and died of cancer in 2017 in Stonington, Maine. She was a writer and a business woman who received her undergraduate degree from Columbia University in 1970. She usually lived in Stonington, Maine, but also taught twentieth century American literature at the University of St. Petersburg, in St. Petersburg, Russia (where Alexander Pushkin and Vladimir Putin both studied).
